Westerly Health Center, in Westerly, Rhode Island was in desperate need to replace its existing domestic hot water system. The long and short term care facility utilized four (4) low-efficiency atmospheric hot water heating boilers with a 500-gallon hot water storage tank to support the domestic hot water, laundry and kitchen needs within the facility. Frank I. Rounds Company furnished a highly efficient Intellihot on-demand domestic hot water heater, Model iQ1000. The project was engineered by Creative Environment Corp and the new hot water heater was installed by Reddy Piping Concepts, both from Cranston, Rhode Island. The new system eliminated the need for the hot water storage tank and the costs associated with keeping the stored water hot during periods of no demand.
Frank I. Rounds Company successfully started and fully commissioned the unit to bring the project to a successful conclusion.
The owner of this facility reported a fuel savings of approximately $60,000 after the first year of operation with the new system!
