With 42 years in the boiler industry and 7 years at Frank I. Rounds, Chuck Cyr brings a
wealth of knowledge and experience to the table.
Chuck’s journey began at Maine Maritime Academy, where he trained for four years, earning a B.S. Degree in Marine Engineering. Embarking on a career at sea in the US. Merchant Marine. During the duration of 20 years at sea, Chuck worked aboard World Wide Tankers, ensuring the smooth operation of steam and diesel-electric boiler rooms, attaining the rank of Chief Engineer – Steam and Motor Vessels Unlimited Horsepower. His firsthand experience in high-stakes situations gave him unparalleled expertise in boiler and engine room systems and an intimate understanding of their complexities.
After his time at sea, Chuck transitioned to land-based roles, joining Northeast Mechanical in
Maine as a Sales Engineer. Over the span of 15 years, he specialized in smaller boiler room
projects. When Northeast Mechanical was acquired, Chuck joined Frank I. Rounds, where he
shifted focus to larger boiler plant projects and expanded his expertise.
Today, Chuck prides himself in calling on engineers to help facilities decarbonize and adopt
hybrid energy solutions. His work emphasizes integrating multiple energy sources—such as
steam boilers, electric boilers, and heat pumps—to create reliable, efficient systems that meet
the increasing demands of legislation in the Northeast, including Boston’s BERDO (Building
Emissions Reduction and Disclosure Ordinance).
Chuck takes pride in working for Mark Ehrenzeller at Frank I. Rounds, and continuing the long
legacy of excellence within the ASHRAE and AEE Engineering Communities.
