Atmospheric DA’s

Are you aware that Shipco offers Atmospheric .005 DA style deaerators? Yes, the atmospheric unit runs 10% to 20% less expensive than the pressurized version.

When meeting a tight budget, consider this as an option. The tank is the same thickness as the pressurized code unit, but you save money by not having to supply an (1) overflow drainer; (2) safety relief valve; and (3) by not having to pay for an ASME code inspection.

Moreover, for all you skeptics:  they will test and perform to .005 levels just like a pressurized .005 unit. The key for proper deaeration is to run the unit 24 hours a day / 7 days a week.  You will also need to verify correct usage of your surge tank (continuously running pumps and make up added into surge tank) when you have more than 20% returns.

Finally, why does a Deaerator have to have to be limited to dished heads? Make it rectangular steel or cast iron OR even use a flat-headed tank to use space more efficiently and save money
